FB...I'm sure I noticed a thread from you about your son's spelling and because I was using DH phone in the car for my daily fix, I earmarked it for a reply. Now where has it gone ? Anyway, hopefully I haven't gone completely bananas and it was from you because my DD is the same age as your DS and her spelling has gone to pot too....She is having her birthday party the week they start back and had proudly made and written invitations and then sealed them up...I sneakily had a peek ( just to check she had put the right day etc, you understand ) and her spelling was awful and I now face the dilemma of confessing to her or letting the parents see she looks like a complete dimmy.
Anyway, I'm wondering if as well as having 6 weeks out of school they know they are on holiday and so are not ng the effort in.Also for reassurance my 2 sons only started spelling properly when in year 4..it did suddenly seem to come overnight !
