Are we going that way?

Post by Aganist_Guns »

In light of recent tragic events at the University in Virginia, do we, as parents have anything to be concerned about over here? In recent months, several young boys have been stabbed to death in London over gangs, and the threat of religious backlash violence is never too far, it's all heading towards a volcano about to blow. Granted, getting hold of guns on a large scale could be difficult in the UK, but not impossible. What's to stop something like the events of Monday happening over here at our schools or Universities? Should we be voicing our concerns and should the government be looking into how these types of tragedies don't occur here in the UK.

I for one, worry about the safety and well being of my children and my wife who is a teacher.

My heart goes out to the parents whose children were tragically gunned down......

We've already been there - Dunblane.

Tragically there is so little that anyone can do to guard against one nutter with an armful of guns and ammo.

We do have the consolation here that "the right to bear arms" isn't enshrined in our national consciousness the way it is in the USA, and after Dunblane our government legislated to try to reduce the number of weapons in circulation. It is a lot harder to conduct mass murder with a knife.
