Etienne, when you say it is different for academies, do you mean that you get the information for academies from somewhere other than the LA or, is it that there are different rules re class size?

The overall capacity for an academy is written into the funding agreement with the DfE. I'm not aware that they use any formula as such - I suspect they have just taken into account existing data.

You could (a) ask the academy what capacity figure is written into their funding agreement, (b) ask the LA for a copy of their last available net capacity assessment for the school, and (c) compare the two!
