I was wondering evilly to myself whether perhaps people who plan weddings in term time are rather hoping their distant relatives DON'T bring the children.... !

No they don't always. As a Scottish person living in England for my sins, our summer holidays really don't coincide, nor do a lot of the others, so we have to make decisions based on who has invited us and what the situation is regarding exams and revision etc ....it's not always as simple as it might appear. And they aren't inviting us in their term time
