A plea for restraint and consideration

If your child has received the result that you were hoping for that's great - but do have some consideration for those who might not have had such good news. Please don't tell your child that in future they should only associate with those who will be heading to the same school as them, and get them to phone their less successful mates to impart the news that they're no longer considered good enough to be friends with your child due to their exam results. :(

I'd hope it was just an isolated outbreak of insensitivity, but if there is anyone else out there planning on doing something similar, just stop and think how your child would feel if the boot was on the other foot and it was them being told that they're not good enough to be friends with - and then do unto the children of others as you would have done unto your child. Friendship groups will change of their own accord once they're mixing on a daily basis with a different set of children at a new school so please just let it happen naturally rather than kicking other peoples children when they may already be down.

My goodness. What am awful thing to read. I can hardly believe a parent would behave like this with small children.......I'm so sad to hear it.
What has the world come to?

That really is horrible. I think some parents lose all common sense in their excitement sometimes :?

In our area we have had a few results through but not all but I actually had to tell a group of mums off at the school gate for discussing things so excitedly when there were children and parents who were present that did not make it. There is no doubt that all the children will tell each other their results - why can't the parents just ask their own child what they know when they come home?

I actually gave DS firm instructions this morning that he was not to discuss his score at school or say any more than whether he passed or not as he should be sensitive to others. This topic always bothers me every year but I don't want to sound like a broken record :(

Unfortunately this kind of thing sometimes happens but hopefully is a rare occurrence that your child will not be subjected to again.
