Academies?
Is it becoming inevitable that schools will convert to academies as those left behind are squeezed for funding?

Re: Academies?
Well if the majority of local school become academies, that leaves the few that aren't left behind to pay for the central LEA education services. I know a few local schools that are resisting, but budget wise they are under very strong pressure. And if the academy programme is the focus on improving standards as stated in that article, then let's jsut forget about the other schools until they come round to this latest way of thinking. Grr. It makes me cross.

Re: Academies?
The other issue is that LEAs still have the responsibility of making sure that every child has a school place, but they have less and less control of the schools.
