I am here!! Sadly my days of dark brown hair are long gone, as indeed are my days of hair.. (large doses of prednisolone when younger). I'm not 40 yet!! I like blur and and pink floyd, and lots of new music and classical.. I will only drink one type of lager, I'm more partial to a bottle of red, or fizz, or a good brandy!! Btw DW is spoiled regularly, mostly because she deserves it.(but don't tell her I said so)

Stroudydad, you sound lovely. Anyone who spoils their dw is lovely. (Dh take note:) who cares what you look like? You are young! Actually, you sound like my brother. Only he is partial to anything and lives in York. :D

stroudydad, got my vote. Anyone that spoils DW must be wonderful. OH does from time to time with lots of prompting. His perspective is that it's all commercialism

I play sudoku on the iPad as it stops me running all sorts of scenarios through my mind. I use an over the counter Boots aid for sleeping in hotels, it works reasonably well, but only take half the dose if you want to function the following day.

I do sleep better since being diagnosed as coeliac, so perhaps there is something in the anaemia thing. I used to be chronically anaemic for both iron and B12. I can't say that I sleep well now though, just better!

Oh dear I feel so sorry for all you insomniacs. I watched my Mum suffer with that for years and I have always dreaded following in her footsteps. If I have trouble sleeping I try to relax and think of nice things, holidays, pleasant memories etc. It is so easy to start worrying about things in the small hours and I don't know about the rest of you, but my mind seems to magnify everything and things seem far worse than they really are. I tend to sleep better when I exercise. I hope things improve for you.

I'm not a great sleeper either - more of a very light sleeper so it doesn't take much to wake me up and then I can't get back to sleep. 2-4am is my time! I have occasionally used OTC sleeping tablets but they do make you feel groggy, although they do sometimes help you reset your body clock. I find the best thing is to get up for half an hour and read, but I don't always follow my own advice.

I am a fan of n-y-t -o-l. But not sure if I can mention this so may be deleted. It makes me sleep when away and helps if I am struggling due to worry at home. Wrong I know but is wonderful.

My father swears by night nurse. (Hope I can say that). Now I've typed it, it doesn't look good, Night nurse knocks him out. Hmmm.

I go through phases of the 3 am problem. Recently I found that keeping a torch by the bed and starting to read gl assessment practice papers as soon as I stirred did the trick. I fell asleep pretty quickly that way before giving the brain a chance to switch on to the thoughts of the day.

I swear by Night Nurse too, but only when you are ill

Have rarely had trouble sleeping and really feel for those that do :(
