My Godson is 21 in the next couple of days. He is away at University so the 'easiest' present to give is probably money (how much????).

What else could I get him instead?????

Think £50 is generous without being OTT.

Do you mean easier because of getting it to him, or because it involves no difficult decisions?

He will probably prefer cash and its probably the best option unless you had something in mind already.
I always feel you have to 'spend' slightly more if giving cash as opposed to buying a gift.
£50 is a good amount. Ideally a nice new pinky (£50 note).

It's always a little impersonal though, so as he is at Uni, how about you get one of those red 'In Case Of Emergency Break Glass' money box's to put it in.

Do people still celebrate being '21' these days? I honestly thought it had gone out the window years ago.

To me 18 and 21 were always that bit extra special and therefore warranted something which reflected that. Something which could be kept for years and looked back upon, like, say, an engraved bracelet - but I appreciate that's not probably appropriate these days.

I also have a godson who is soon to be 21. I hope it going to be celebrated as I'm looking forward to a big party.

Anyway I am pondering between:shirt studs, some fabulous port or maybe a Stilton scoop (OH likes his). We got him cufflinks for his christening otherwise that would be a good idea too.
