child bereavement counsellors
Hi, sorry for the dismal topic but
Having lots both their grandpa's in the last 6 months and now my best friend both of my girls are struggling.
School are putting help in place as is the GP but these seem to be taking time.
Can anyone in the Canterbury area recommend anything. DD2 is now struggling at school.
Many thanks

Re: child bereavement counsellors
It is worth contacting the local hospice (Pilgrims). They may not be able to offer direct support if none of the relatives were supported by them, but they will certainly know who is good locally.

Sorry to hear that it's such a sad time for you. I recently had cause to look into this subject and came across the Winston's Wish charity, which aims to help families and particularly children affected by bereavement. The website is here http://www.winstonswish.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - it might be worth getting in touch to see if they can provide or recommend any support locally.

Thanks.
I did contact Pilgrims, like you say, they were unable to help directly, but recommended going through the GP and school

In Maidstone there is a service called Slideaway. Not sure if this is countywide?
