Where to take 3 girls in London

Post by ginx »

I'm taking two fourteen year old girls and one eleven year old to Madame Tussauds on Sunday. Earliest we can get in is 3pm. We are going by train to add to the excitement (this is a birthday treat) and arrive at Marylebone at 10.

It is supposed to be hot this weekend, any ideas what we can do between 10 and 3 (other than eat!!!) I don't want to go to a museum, we find them really tiring ... or at least, not a big museum.

Any suggestions? Following the post on "Girls", I'm wondering if we should visit a Hollister shop for the experience (and I won't take any money!!!!)

Ideas gratefully received.

How about London Eye? or Westfields Shopping Centre in White City - have lunch there and set off to Baker Street?

If the weather is good I would stroll around either Southbank or Covent garden and soak up the atmosphere. :D

Go to Monument; its at Monument tube station and is a memorial to the location of the start of the great fire of london. Its about 300 steps to climb, costs a quid and offers truly wonderful views of Central london. You also get a certificate to state you climbed it.

The other great morning filler is to climb to the very top of St Pauls Cathedral. Not for the faint hearted though as the last bit is on top of the dome. Quite inexpensive as well.

Have fun..

What a choice!

sbarnes, done Monument. What a hidden treasure that was!

scary mum, never been to Borough Market, that sounds good.

CarpeDiem might follow your advice though as the weather is supposed to be good (believe it when I see it) and head for Covent Garden.

If it's very hot, Regent's Park just sounds easy. Five hours feels a long time to kill, though - don't want to be shattered before we go to Madame Tussauds (after I'd booked that, dh asked why were we going somewhere so boring ... oh well, dd's birthday choice).

Thanks everyone!
