Recommendations for flutes for beginners

Thanks Blue_Marigold that is really helpful. DD2 will get the student flute so a solid head is not an option. We tried a Yamaha closed key and two Azumi flutes yesterday with open keys. I think Azumi is linked to Altus as they have an Altus head. One had a silver plated body and one had a solid silver body with a plated mechanism. We weren't sure if we could tell enough of a difference for the extra cost. I think we need to go somewhere else with more of a range and try a few more. Second hand would be great if we can find something suitable.
