Collars and cuffs

Post by PROBSNAIVE »

Hello! as a mum of 4 children who all wear white shirts for school, does anyone have any tips for getting clean collars and cuffs? Have just spent ages doing the washing and I'm thinking that there must be an easier way!

I make mine change them every day & just throw a scoop of whitener/stain remover in with the washing powder. Anything really bad gets a squirt of stain remover.

Scrub their necks and wrists every night with a hard scrubbing brush and carbolic soap.

Wtights coal tar soap on boy....vanish in washing machine....e45 for when their skin falls off...but at least you will have clean shirts.

On this theme, why oh why do my local rugby team wear black and white stripes? To get the kit clean you either sacrifice the white to the world of grey and face the sympsthetic looks from perfect mum, or spend hours soaking it in cool water and scrubbing in the sink. Why why why?

I only buy John Lewis non iron these days, it seems to stay whiter than everything else. My children don't seem to be any cleaner than anyone else, but their shirts seem to stay ok on being worn once and the occasional scoop of Vanish.

Washing up liquid applied with an old toothbrush before the shirts go into the wash.

Vanish and toothbrush. Plus more in the machine. DS has eczema, so he does have to cream quite a bit.

Short-sleeved shirts. With the collars, the dirt's on the inside anyway.
