Board games for the classroom

Post by Jules7 »

We have raised over £200 from an after school sale to buy items for a class of year 5 children. The teacher has suggested board games for "Golden Time" and wet play. So far on the Amazon wish list I have put together are:
Scrabble
Bananagrams
Chess
Boggle
Boggle Slam
BrainBox Maths
Cluedo
Quirkle
Pass the Pigs
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Would be good to have some ideas for quick games to play in case they don't have much time (chess, scrabble etc can take a while to play).

Thank you in advance!

Thanks Amber, forgot to say got Yahtzee is on my list too. They don't have much space in the classroom so not sure about games like Twister. Will check out the others!

What about other versions of BrainBox. My ds loves The World, but History and World History look interesting.

Rummikub is our family favourite & good across the ages (although not relevant if it's a year 5 class!).
Of course, you can also play it with two sets of cards, but that takes up a lot more room!

Rummikub firm favourite here as well as Blokus. If you haven't tried or seem Blokus I would really recommend having a look at it.

Pictureka is another favourite here.

What about a jigsaw roll and 1000 piece jigsaw! A team effort in wet play

Quick would be Quorridor, Quarto or King of Tokyo.

Shame, have SEVERAL fab ideas for long wet afternoon games (Ticket to Ride anyone?)
