Fostering- anyone here do it?

Post by MamaBear »

The need for new foster carers is all over the news today, does anyone here do it?
My mum fosters and she has two teens at the moment, whenever they come to stay at my place they are literally horrified by:
*the lack of electronic gadgets
*the amount of hmwk and prep my boys do
*the amount of time that goes into music practice, etc.......

Does anyone here foster and what are your experiences?

My mother used to foster and I work a lot with young people who have been through the system.

I think there is often not enough good quality support given to foster parents but, in my experience, the children and young people are as diverse a group as you would find in any local school.

DD is friends with a looked after child who plays in the same Youth Orchestra as her so there are foster mums out there getting the practice done ;)
