Probably. Maybe he's bold with his whipping too.

And Nick Gibb is back as Schools Minister.

Quite a good article here. http://tinyurl.com/nvrjtx9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My favourite line is:
Long gone are the days when politicians felt education should be left to those who knew what they were talking about.

I think it is too soon to pass judgement on the policies that Gove brought in.

Some other quotes, from the above quoted article.
Many teachers will feel like rejoicing at today’s news, but history suggests their happiness will be short-lived. It is highly unlikely that Gove’s replacement, Nicky Morgan, or future holders of the education secretary portfolio (from whatever party) will decrease the number of cards the government now holds. This means that schools and teachers should prepare themselves for permanent revolution.
reality check.
Ironically, ............. there may be many in the profession who are grateful that actions can be taken quickly.

Yeah, Tiffinboys, what the full quote, edited by your ellipsis, actually says is:
Ironically, when we collectively come to our senses and realise that there are better ways to feed our nation’s young minds than the fast food diet they currently receive, there may be many in the profession who are grateful that actions can be taken quickly.
which puts a slightly different hue on it.

Could easily be victim of vile propaganda
Once you refer to a group of professionals as "the blob" merely because they have a different view from your own, rather than engaging in reasoned discourse with them, you've already lost the argument imo. Quite childish and pathetic behaviour really.

I have no connection with education professionally at all, but I found Gove a most unlikeable minister who seemed to assume that his "gut feeling" about education trumped years of research and experience.

Secretary of State for Education seems to be seen as a stepping stone to "more important" positions and, sadly, a role in which new policies can be introduced willy-nilly in the surefire knowledge that those introducing them won't be around long enough to worry about whether they were good policies or not.

Bit true, but does mean that many in profession would go with Gove, as most of the teachers didn't vote for the strike action as well.

Totally agree with that.

Gibb back is a worry! Dreadful man, who sat in a meeting with NFER and rubbished all educational research in this country. He hadn't even worked out that he was talking to the national foundation for educational research.

His maths curriculum was saved after he left and has been further saved by the profession's interpretation of the final document. What we have with a huge emphasis on problem solving and reasoning is a far cry from his idea of sitting children in rows chanting tables and mechanically completing problems, aka pages of calculations.

He based policy on a single visit to a shop with a shop assistant who couldn't sum two chocolate bars and a letter written by one of his teenage constituents complaining about his policy. All he noted was the poor spelling and grammar!

I would have Gove any day over Gibb. At least when Truss came in she was so unaware that some of Gibb's damage could be undone.
