The Duke of York, Commodore-in-Chief, Fleet Air Arm, afterwards attended the 78 Squadron Disbandment and 846 Naval Air Squadron Standing-Up Parade at Royal Air Force Benson.

We bought our latest car from the garage off the road next to raf benson, we had to wait for the floods to go down to have a test drive! We wondered how the staff got to the base from quarters that week? Waders?
