freedom of speech

Post by Moderators »

Freedom of speech is not unlimited.
What we have is freedom of speech within the law.
For example:
    • • in this country you are not free to incite racial violence, or to libel/slander.
      • in France and some other countries you are not free to deny the holocaust.
One or two of our members seem to think they have the right to say what they like on the forum, to make personal attacks and off-topic posts.

What we actually have is freedom of speech within the forum rules that everyone agrees to when registering.

There is a big banner at the top of most forum pages which clearly states:
    • "Participation in the forum implies full and unconditional acceptance of all the rules and guidance.
Do not post unless you are in agreement with the rules and guidance.
      "
We think most of our members value a forum that is (relatively) free from trolls, spam, offensive language and personal abuse.
Any member who is not happy is, of course, free to leave and go elsewhere.
