After last year's last minute effort, I'm planning my dd's costume now. Anyone have any ideas? Something spectacular! Now she's in year 6 my imagination has dried up.

Dare you to say 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. That would finish off the World Book Day dressing up bonanza for a while I bet.

She loves the Percy Jackson books. Last year she was Cleopatra and the year before that she was Hermione.

My daughter wants to go as Jane Goodhall, having recently read her child-friendly autobiography; she's trying tp persuade her brother to go as her chimp:)

For older girls we have done Violet Baudelaire, Mary Poppins, Susan (Narnia) and also Hermione.

We did Katniss from the Hunger Games in year 6. QUite an easy costume and you can buy the little brooches from ebay for about £1.50. It helped that little brother had a bow and arrows and we made a quiver from a pringles tube. It looked very effective!
