My kids made pi pies last year on March 14th - little fruity ones with pastry π symbols on them.

This thread makes me feel nostalgic for 12345678, when I was lying on the grass in my best friend's back garden, revising for our O-levels, listening to Capital Radio. It was 12.34 on 5th June 1978. Does anyone else remember that one?

I know there continue to be numerically interesting dates but this is the one that sticks in my mind. It was also a glorious summer's day and my whole life still stretched out before me...

It was a Monday (had to look that up) in my A level summer, so chances are I will have spent half of it stuck behind a desk in the school gym - or possibly in the Biology lab frantically drawing a diagram of where my dogfish's innominate artery and a few other features would have been if I hadn't accidentally dissected them out during my prep  .

DS1 is being 'pi'ed on Monday as part of his school's celebrations, apparently.

Apple pie for supper this evening, and we'll be having an approximate pie on the 22nd July.

My son tell me this pi thingy is only true if we live in an Euclidean Universe i.e flat universe(or slightly saddle shaped universe  ) but maybe we live in an 11 dimensional universe, x1 time and 10 space dimensions , some curled up so small , smaller than Plank? size(much<<<< than the width of an electron) , or even floating on a Brane floating in a higher dimensional plane like massive sheets and they collide initiating endless Big Bangs( without the need for Inflation, explaining the fine tuning of the universe aka The Multiverse)

I have no idea what he is going on about

it's "turtles all the way down" for me
