Ideas for a film for tween girls' party

Hello all,

I'm struggling to come up with a film for dd's 12th b'day sleepover.

Dd had initially wanted Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies but one child is not allowed to watch it as she's only allowed PG and apparently has only ever watched one PG - at school. (It is a 12A).

They're a bit old for Disney.
Any ideas please?

Your choice would be wider if the not-allowed-12A child didn't come....!

But our whole family loves Hugo, which I think is actually a U or possibly a PG. It's quite long but it's a fantastic story.

If you have to go for a Disney, Enchanted is good; quite girly but good as it's Amy Adams. And we watched Brave recently which even my teenaged son quite enjoyed.

I'll ask my DD later if she has any recommendations.

Simpsons movie. (Looked at ours and its PG)

Maybe worth asking the parents of the the child if the Hobbit is ok.

Thank you,

Yes the parents have said that she can't watch Hobbit 3. Although my 5 year old went to see it dressed as a hobbit alongside his 4 year old friend

The Book Thief is brilliant but also a 12A.

Hugo looks super - I think we may go with that.

Agreed Hugo is a lovely film, my 70+ DF recommended it to us, so not a film just for kids.

DDs favourite film, (age 15!), is still Nanny McPhee, or if you can stand the singing, mine like Mamma Mia which is surprisingly only a PG. Also the earlier Harry Potter movies are PG.

Oh yes, definitely Nanny McPhee but Mamma Mia (sorry minesatea) makes everyone in this house want to vomit.

Another suggestion, for a silly slapstick film, is Mr Bean's holiday. I normally find Mr B pretty excruciating but that one's funny and quite touching.

If you do go for Hugo let us know if they like it! You'd enjoy it too I'm sure. Makes me think slightly of Cinema Paradiso.
