The friend I saw last night was, coincidentally, talking about her warm potato salad for picnics. It involves keeping baby new potatoes hot in a large thermos until needed, then you decant them into a serving bowl and combine with creme fraiche mixed with chopped watercress. Haven't tried it but it sounds great.

That's what I'm hoping, Doodles - although DH would prob prefer raw meat than more salad!

Made the salmon and watercress tart today and used part creme fraiche, iadded a bit of a tang and was delish! Thoroughly recommend it and very easy too.
Have just made wholewheat pasta, red pesto, feta and raw spinach salady thing for ds's lunch box tomorrow - he's not keen on sandwiches.
Am going to try loubylou's recipe this week.

Why cook? Lidl do goats cheese and sundried topside (sorry, tomato )) focaccia thingies in their in-store bakery which are really yummy. You might feel the urge to have them with salad, though.

Cook to avoid all the added fats, sugar and additives. To use wholemeal and wholegrain products, etc. However, if you are already balancing the meals and your family get all the nutrition needed, why not add something yummy now and then?
I find it very difficult to keep sugars down with ready made products.
