What a ridiculous time to put a film aimed at children.
Re: What to watch ?
I think that channel bosses probably reckon that as there is actually not that much time in the week when it is suitable for watching direct, so to speak, and since almost no-one now has no means of recording programmes, they may as well put at least some of their 'children's' output on whenever they have a bit of a gap. I'm afraid we are possibly the only household in the entire western hemisphere with not a single member who finds Michael Morpurgo's works appealing, so we didn't record Private Peaceful.kenyancowgirl wrote:JaneEyre wrote:For Morpurgo's fan, there is tonight on BBC1 at 11:30 p.m. the film 'Private Peaceful'.

I have just very much enjoyed episode 2 of The Pallisers, a series I remember enjoying the first time round (1974 ), when my mum and I watched it together. Although Dad was still alive at the time, I have no particular recollection of him being in the room with us, so possibly if saw it as a once-weekly opportunity to make a really good job of the washing up

Re: What to watch ?
I think one Michael Morpurgo book is good...but once you read more than one they are rather monotonously similar - at least my boys thought so. I quite like the Butterfly Lion, though!
I suppose what I mean is that putting it at that time, it doesn't advertise well - can't really see them publicising it on CBBC "tonight at 11.30pm...." If there aim is ti try and encourage youngsters to engage with his books, why not put it on at the same sort of time as those infernal Gangsta Granny type ones?!

Thank you for the recommendation, Quasi. That seems great! I 've just watched the clip on the library of Alexandria. Can you imagine if it had not been destroyed?
