Assessment level

Please, does anyone know why the DoE has scrapped assessment levels?
I can observe that there will be six CPDs linked to this fact at the Education Show:
- Life after levels: How are your peers progressing?
- Life after levels: Let’s assess what matters
- 2016 tests and assessment
- Part of the story: Coping with life without levels
- Assessing reading in a ‘world without levels’
- Assessing reading without levels

I can't help feeling life would be so much better if these levels were still in place. What was the reason for removing them?

What was the reason indeed ?

The new system of 'sort out your assessment levels yourself in order to jump through bizarre and ever-changing Ofsted hoops' is nothing more than a nightmare of additional work for teachers taking them away from 'real' planning and teaching. It also makes it nigh on impossible for parents to easily compare the achievement levels of primary schools or for governors to hold schools to account.

Are you going to the Education Show? - I will see you there

Would it be the 'hidden' aim?

See you at the Education Show, um. :D I do not propose to you a car share as I know it is nice to feel independent and able to leave when we wish. But hopefully, I will bump into you over there.
