I have just watched 'The Silent Child' on BBC 1. This is the short film that won the Oscar this year.
It is such a powerful and thought provoking drama. Do watch it on catch-up.
It will be 20 minutes of your time well spent.
The film tells the story of Libby, a profoundly deaf four-year-old girl, who lives a silent life until a social worker (played by the writer of the film- Rachel Shenton) teaches her how to communicate through sign language.

We watched it last night and found it very thought provoking as well. We also found the acting amazing, especially of Maisie (the little girl).
