Re: Whatsapp to become over 16's only
DD finally succumbed to peer pressure and got WA the back end of last year. She was using iMessage with her friends, but some dont have apple stuff and messages and to be passed on.
As I had also succumbed to peer pressure and got it too, due to one friend having issues with FB messenger, therefore know what it was, I had no qualms in her having it. I didn’t see it being different from iMessage really, except it isn’t depending on you having an iPhone/iPad.
She has FB (but only after 13) but never uses it, none of her friends do either. She also doesn’t have snapchat, insta-wotsit, twitter etc.
It’s all WA and iMessage.

I will also be indulging my 15yr 9mth DS. We are a hybrid family, part apple and part android so WA is the only way of connecting us. It's really very useful to call taxi of mum and dad

same here. DD sent a picture of her 'unmoderated' music marks through WA as images sometime go a bit strange via IM. She tends to use WA for small group stuff but bigger groups like Wind Orchestra and the Air Ambulance concert need to use Facebook. She doesn't use FB for anything else - by the time I let her have an account at 13 she had lost interest in it.Tinkers wrote:DD finally succumbed to peer pressure and got WA the back end of last year. Really? I don't think work has ever forced me into using kit I hated as much as the BB. Although the Samsung Galaxy I now have is a close runner upRedPanda wrote:To be honest, I still miss my Blackberry!

Good battery life and fast (at the time) hardware. It bounced on the floor and still worked (tested this numerous times). Security was fantastic.Reading Mum wrote:Really? In the end it came down to people's love/aversion for a built in keyboard and the fact they were late to the 'touch screen' revolution.
For those who love Whatsapp, I give you BBM, only 10+ years ago
