Fantastic! Who needs the EU! We'll soon be able to enjoy a Mediterranean type climate without the inconvenience of having to go abroad and deal with pesky foreigners who eat dodgy food and can't speak the Queen's English!

Its very difficult to see any positives in all this. I used to be quite keen on proportional representation as a better reflection of votes cast. Not any more! I am worried we will have another general election which won’t change anything...

I hope a change does come because I do not recognise the England I currently live in any more. Every day I see greater levels of xenophobia, deeper crises in prisons, hospitals and mental health, greater levels of inequality and more ingrained poverty, and greater levels of appalling ineptitude and imbecility amongst our politicians and leaders.

Maybe preppers aren't so mad after all. Maybe they can see something in the future I haven't yet seen.

In the last three days I have met two personal friends and one relative who are being hung out to dry by this wonderful England. One is severely disabled and wheelchair bound. She has waited 2 years to be moved into a flat after her old care facility ran into financial problems. She has been rehoused in a flat with mental health patients with what is known as challenging behaviour and is the only one in a wheelchair (she has no mental health issues). She has been waiting 4 months for a kitchen assessment to allow her to cook in her swanky new kitchen; she has not been able to leave the premises at all as none of the staff has 'wheelchair training' so she is essentially a prisoner in a place where she feels constantly threatened. It is heartbreaking.

Yesterday I discovered that someone we know very well has been made homeless after a relationship breakdown coincided with an increase in rent on a property. This person is employed but on a casual zero hours contract so has no rights and can't claim benefits for 6 weeks; on top of that without an address there are complications in both work and benefit payments. I am offering showers and use of the washing machine as well as meals because they literally have nowhere to go. This is an educated, native Englander who has always worked and paid tax, not one of the 'spongers' we are exhorted to hate by the right wing popular press.

Finally, an elderly relative of mine had a fall last week and broke his neck. He has been in hospital since Friday awaiting an MRI scan. Yes, that is 5 days and counting. There is no bed on the appropriate ward for him and apparently some kind of special equipment is needed to do the scan which needs to be moved or brought from somewhere else and there is no one yet to do it. This man is in his 80s and is in constant agony now, and his poor family are travelling daily from miles away to visit him, with no end in sight as he still hasn't been properly assessed.

The way a society treats its weakest and most vulnerable citizens is a mirror on the health of that society. We should be ****** ashamed. I am afraid I don't think any election can save us from this; I wish I had left years ago when I had chance and I assume my children will leave once they get theirs. Brexit is just the bitter icing on top of a very unpalatable cake.

My friend's dd who is 17 and has a long history of mental illness and is currently suffering with anorexia was recently moved to a specialist eating disorder literally hundreds of miles away from where they live - it is the only one available.

I have citizenship of another country too; it's my get out card. My dds can only start to apply for citizenship of that country if they are resident there, but it's a start.

Would love to ... but I am in the minority here and I know I will be attacked. Suffice to say that a Corbyn Labour government scares the b'jsus out of me.

I'm not convinced a Corbyn government is the right answer either, but I'm in a position where I have a genuine hatred for the current government and so why not roll the dice

Please don't roll the dice - on this occasion I think it is better the devil you know Though I would rather 15 years of Corbyn than the evil that was Blair, but that is another story.
