I am so sorry to hear about your DC’s loss, stroudydad. It all sounds so awful.

In Birmingham, teenagers can be helped trough a very good child service caused PAUSE which has put some resources on line. Some – as Anxiety, Depression and mood, Loss and grief - may help your son to go through this very difficult phase:
