I imagine it is very easy to demonstrate zen-like calm and the most model parenting techniques if you have an army of staff who will not only take care of any of the fallout of juvenile temper tantrums, but also do your shopping, cook your dinner and get all the washing and ironing done and free you up to spend hours at the gym and getting your hair done. Most of us, relieved of all these domestic duties, on top of a job, pretty often, could probably bend down and smile sweetly at our children in the few hours we were publicly required to do so.

They have screens in Scandinavia too. But I think dummies and screens (parental and issued to children) between them have a lot to answer for in terms of children's language development.
