Board Games

Post by doodles »

Any suggestions for new board games for older teens / adults? We have the old favourites and things like Planet but I'm looking for something new for this Christmas. Any ideas or recommendations?

We love Carcassonne, Dominion, Seven Winners of the World, Catan, Dixit, Linkee, Codenames, Ticket to Ride.
They're all quite different from each other though so what sort of game do you enjoy?
Dominion is our current favourite.

We like all sorts of games and play everything from Frustration upwards  Four adults playing Frustration gets very competitive, there's no holds barred

By the way I meant Seven Wonders of the World. Not winners!
I would go for Dominion if I had to pick one with Carcassonne second.

I love playing Dragonology with my 20 something nieces.
I have been given a lifetime ban on Monopoly, but otherwise might have been interested in the Cheater’s Edition.

Maybe you should get her the Millennials edition.

Rather than trying to acquire cash and property (which no millennial could ever hope to afford) you try to rack up experiences like sleeping on a friends couch or eating at a vegan bistro.

Chance cards include:
"Your free Netflix trial expires. Pay the bank £20!"
"You literally can't afford to pay your student loan bill. Go to Jail!"
“You took a trip to find yourself. You didn’t. Lose a turn.”

She's only 8 - don't want to scare her too much

Yoyo, I've just looked at Dragonology on that delivery service and the only one I could find was £170! Perhaps it comes with a free dragon

True. Probably best to stick to the traditional version of Monopoly even if it does promote rampant unfettered capitalism! :D

I have to admit I've never heard of most of the games mentioned so far. Are they quite specialist/niche or am I just out of touch?
