Hey all,

I know this is going to sound mad, but my DD is trying to beat her teacher, the reigning champion, at Cluedo. Has anyone got any tips on how???

Much appreciated,

LQ

P.S. I'm going crazy, I've done three new topics already!

not a clue on how to excel at the game although I can play it.

Why are you going crazy?
(methinks she has inhaled too much hamster feed.)

I always beat my family at Cluedo although it's much easier to beat if you are just playing a two player game. This method isn't a given though as if I were to roll 1 on the dice every go and my opponent rolled high numbers then they would get into more rooms than me!

I do it by a process of elimination.

1. I go into a room I have that is furthest away from my opponent and pick a weapon I have but a person I do not have. The opponent gives me the person.

2. I stay in that same room but change weapon to another one I have and ask for a different person.

3. I repeat this until I get all the people.

4. My opponent thinks I have guessed the room because I'm in there a lot and it takes them a while to get round there.

5. I move to another room I have and now ask for a person I have but a weapon I don't have. I repeat this until I have a weapon.

6. Once I have weapon and person I travel round rooms asking for a person and weapon that I have - the same one. This should fool the opponent into thinking I now know who the murderer and weapon are/is but don't know what the room is.

7. At the same time I'm keeping a close eye on what the opponent is doing and asking.

8. I normally beat my opponents in 4 throws but there are always exceptions.

I guess I have made that difficult to understand, and it makes me look like a geek!

At last, I understand you, Tipsy!!

Eliminate!
Extinguish!
Exterminate!

Room by room, person by person, weapon by weapon!

Is there nowhere safe from you???
I am going to hide in the Giant Pinata.....

Generally sound advice, except that the rules say you have to change rooms after each question. (As you've found, it's otherwise just too easy for a clear thinking person!) But the basic principle is, as you say, to try and eliminate one thing at a time and not ask stupid questions that you already know the answer to if you were only to stop to think about it.

Another basic principle is to pay attention to other peoples' questions and responses - it can often allow you to cross things off without having to ask a question, as well as sometimes being obvious that someone else has identified one of the clues.

Which makes me sound like what my children would probably call a "Cluedo nerd" or a "boffin".

laid back son worried mum,

Do you mean the urine or the hamster? :?

Well, Pepsi is orange with patches of white. Something odd about her though, she's got red eyes....

We thought she was an albino but I thought they were only supposed to have white fur.

And thanks for all your tips for Cluedo, DD will be over the moon!
