KS3 progress
In KS3 pupils are usually set targets for the core subjects - these are usually based on KS2 NC levels or sometimes CATs predictions or FFT [Fischer Family Trust] predictions are used.
Value added progress is to add two levels in KS3 - so a level 5 should move to a level 7 - most schools I know set VA targets. In Maths, as a level 8 is available, some pupils will make 3 levels progress.
Pupils should know their target and many schools 'track' to support pupils to make this progress. There are lots of 'pupil-friendly' level grade descriptions that some school use to help pupils be involved in the target tracking.
Do ask if you want to know what should be happening!

wow
I go off to have a cup of tea and play cards with the children and when I come back I find I have become a woman of power and a new section has been created. If I was at work I'd have asked for a payrise! Thank you forumadmin.
Thank you guest55 you have been of far more help than the school. Now I know where to come with all my other questions.
