So did I, the lamy brand. They are nice pens though.

Very nice pens I agree and one of the few makes that does a specialist Left Hand nib (don't believe makers that say they are universal!!) but when DS comes home and say "I lent xx and yy cartridges today" I may explode

I always thought foolscap and A4 were the same thing. I assume foolscap must be bigger. The larger Sainsbury's have a good selection of stationary, including the plastic wallets.

We just bought a new school bag today for DD going into Yr8. Couldn't persuade her in a million years to go for anything remotely sensible..... Luckily school bags seem to be the one item the school does not regulate. Ended up getting a large handbag which I actually like but which is not suitable or large enough for carrying books, lunch and everything else. At £60 she made a significant contribution out of her own money!

ouch! Never paid quite that much but after several awful shopping trips over the years for shoes/bags with 2 teenage daughters I sympathise. In the end you just think "oh, just get any bloomin bag!!" I have the joy of a shoe trip today....
There is also the "tights/socks without annoying seams in the toe area" troubles thread to be started! (maybe that is just my DCs )
I remember them starting Y7 - those were the days of nice sensible shoes and bags.....sigh. Luckily this year it is DS starting y7 and he is not fussy (yet??? I am assuming boys don't do the annoying shoes/bag thing) DS has been sorting out his pencil case and is excited now about starting. The STRS science school has totally helped with his nerves, what a great idea.

DS1 goes back to school today. I think we have got everything. It bloomin' well cost me a fortune going into town yesterday. I'm sure Sports Direct as some special air conditioning which is designed to cause children to demand the most expensive football boot on the shelf, and the mums (its never the dad!) to flatly refuse.

Did shoes, trainers and rugby boots for both DS's! Anybody got any good baked bean recipes 'cos that's all I can afford until payday
Re: Where's the 'trendy school bag' and 'plastic wallet' thr
I feel quite smug
DD was very happy accepting her Team GB black rucksack (as her new school bag) that came free with the huge amount of souvenirs we bought from our last summer holiday outing to the Olympic park yesterday.
Had spent loads in the shoe store in town beforehand and then the chocolate shop
OK - maybe not quite so smug

School shoes are a phenomenal price, especially if your DC's have dodgy feet like mine.
I get so fed up at paying adult prices for school shoes just because my DS has big feet. It's not his fault that he has size 11 feet at the age of 13 (I blame his father myself).

What size are your feet Doodles ? You could recoup the difference by buying childrens shoes...and I don't mean brown , frumpy ones...have you seen teenage girls feet recently ?!
I'd like to know where the " I've got a big glut of courgettes...what should I do with them " thread is this year too.
