Not the favourite education expert but my two penny worth...

I would be interested to see a direct comparison between degree subjects graduated in, in the UK, as compared with the other countries in the survey. In itself, participation in and graduation from UK universities does not really mean as much as the quality of subject studied and qualification gained. For example 2000 graduates in "Meeja Studies" in the UK versus 1900 "Medics" in Germany...!

But hey, I'll celebrate anything!!

Of course the BBC wouldn't publish something at the behest of their paymasters so as to attract foreign students would they.

Pearson, who published this - Michael Barber - John Fallon = big business and yes, money is behind all of this guff. If you juggle figures around enough you can get them to say anything you like. The UK is keen to attract ever more foreign students as it is so lucrative. Educational governance is now in the hands of these kinds of organisations and their cronies.

Pearson is positioning itself as “a global learning services company,” Fallon said in a statement today. “This will drive a leaner, more cash-generative, faster-growing business from 2015.”

Tells you everything, and absolutely nothing, at the same time.

Seems they may need to do what they were sounding off about in that BBC report themselves now:

"How do we do more or better with the same or less resources?"

, though don't suppose either Barber or Fallon will be taking a pay cut (Fallon on around £1.2million a year according to Businessweek).
