Courses and Residentials
Prompted by Um's mention of the Smallpeice trust, I thought it might be helpful to gather information about holiday courses for post 11+. Here's a few we have come across in recent weeks however we don't have any direct experience yet. Any opinions welcome.
Smallpeice trust offers engineering courses.

These looked interesting until I looked at the price.

Re: Courses and Residentials
Two of ours have been on residential courses run by this company. It's based in Billericay, Essex, but one of the centres they use is in Northamptonshire:

Our first contact with them was when we had a letter from DS1's school, but students don't have to be 'put forward' for courses. They seem to have a lot of fun (and DS1 even met the young woman who became his girlfriend on the one he went on after year 11, but I wouldn't rely on the company as a matchmaking agency and yes, the sleeping quarters are segregated).

Re: Courses and Residentials
The Debate Chamber, based in Central London, runs some very interesting summer schools for 15-18 Year olds. My son did one in critical theory this summer based at Birkbeck College which was very well organised and according to him absolutely brilliant. He has come home slightly to the left of Marx, a more radical feminist than Judith Butler and able converse arrogantly about heurmeneutics....money well spent ?
