New GCSE level 1-9 end of Year 8

Post by susanass »

Hi, hopefully someone can clarify please. In the new levels 1-9, what level should my dc be expected to achieve by the end of Y8 in a Grammar school? By this I don't mean the predicted GCSE grade, only the current level. I just can't get to grip with the new levels  If someone knows what the average, below average & above average is that would be great. Thanks!

I think most schools now use their own system these days. DD’s school certainly do, but they do provide an explanation.

In maths on the old levels I'd expect a level 7 which was low B. In new grades that would be about a 5 but you can;t really equate old and new.

Not all schools are doing it like this though ...

No clue.
DD2 is in year 9 and they use red, amber, green, green plus.
So long as she's green I'm happy!

How many levels would they be expected to progress from the end of year 8?

Hard to say. KS2 110+ should be aiming for a minimum of a grade 7.
