DS has just received results for baseline testing in maths. He's in year 7. Does anyone know what they mean eg -4, 4, +4, -5 , 5,+5 in relation to national expectations.

Confusing isn’t it! Can I suggest you contact your DS school and to check how they are grading their students? Some schools are using what they call a flight path from year 7 to GCSE which tracks their progress and anticipated outcome at GCSE. If you google “student progress flight path” you will find lots of charts to show you. It sounds like this is what they are doing but I would check.
