listing of 6 choices in CAF form

Post by sdinreach »

Hello Mums and Dads , Have a quick question. My daughter has cleared Bucks, Berks and Herts exams and all are well above the cutoff. However we are not in the catchment of any of the grammer schools (herts to some extent). Berks do offer outside catchment and Herts has a quota for outer admission area. What would happen if we list all the 6 options as grammer schools and not listing any comprehensive school? Would be grateful if anyone has some info on this. Many thanks

Whereabouts are you, and which Bucks schools were you thinking of? If you are not close to one of the Bucks grammars there really is no point in putting one of those down. You can look up the distances allocated this year (or ask!) - you probably know that score is irrelevant in Bucks once qualified (ie 121+).
You'd be better off naming the schools, then people can help.you more. Presumably when you say Berks you mean Slough?
You should always put down one local school that you can be sure of getting, otherwise your local authority will give you a school which has vacancies which might be undesirable/miles away, if you don't qualify for the grammar schools.
Just putting down grammar schools will not force them to give you one.

Which Herts schools are you interested in?

If you have a good score it might be an idea to focus on those schools.

The information on scores from the last few years are very comprehensive and helpful.

You need to have at least one school that is safe just in case the last scores to get in are higher this year. DG
