What does the MidYIS test prove or assess?

Once at Grammar they have to sit the MidYIS. What is it? Does it predict gcse grades or just a rough guide for the teachers? Please help as at Parents Evening they guard these grades very cautionously and will not let on what they are about.

In my experience it isn't much use for a GS - the Fischer family trust is free and better.
