Abstract reasoning??

Hello,
Does anyone out there know what abstract reasoning is?
We are in the Wandsworth London and my son has just come home with the secondary transfer pack.
They have a test for all year 6 in November which is one part vr and 2 parts nvr and abstract nvr.
My ds was a bit shocked to hear of this new type of exam(he is probably thinking 'more work' ).
the advice is to use the vr and nvr of nfer, but for the 50 min test on abstract there is no advice given.
any feedback appreciated.
thanks
ps. could someone tell me how to correct the spelling mistake in my username as well [/b]
