Is there any technique to work out cube type of questions quickly?

not a short cut, but i would start with

1.cutting out the cube nets so that they can be folded.
2: move on, but still with cut out nets , predicting answer, then checking by folding

this should help with visualising the sides

cube questions rely on ability to " see" the 3d object, some people fin this difficult ..I do.

do you have Bond " How to do NVR" ? there are some useful tips in that.
