Difference between Letts, GL and CGP.
Doing the Kent Test and need about 55% in Non Verbal Reasoning for a basic pass. Have been practising with Letts and getting 89% with no coaching and 83% on GL mock tests, which people say are similar to the Kent Test.
Was running out of tests so bought CGP Practice Book, worked together through the instruction pages, then got 59% on the first test, a drop of 30 points. The instructions also say the tests get harder as the book progresses. Looking through, the CGP excercises certainly look more complex than Letts.
Would you revert to Letts and GL, or persevere with CGP?

You need to move onto the more challenging tests and not be doing ones that your ds finds too easy.
Misplaced over confidence is a very dangerous thing in 11 plus world. It is better to do the hardest papers that you can find so your ds is learning new things all the time. DG

GL ARE the publishers of the Kent 11+. Make sure you work through all the 32 papers and you should be fine for a pass. Also, do remember that the test includes Spatial reasoning and GL do not provide materials for it. Do get CGP for spatial reasoning and you should be okay.Sparklecat wrote:Doing the Kent Test and need about 55% in Non Verbal Reasoning for a basic pass. You may shorten the duration of the test for added challenge. Some children just get NVR. My boys loved NVR and we didn't do much work on it, but concentrated on other areas.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice.
Think I will use the CGP as an open book excercise, with answers available for any difficult questions, so she is learning. And continue using Letts and GL for actual testing.
