Recommendation for an Educational Psyhcologist

Post by tahm563 »

Dear parents,
I really need some help. I would like to do a dyxlexia screening for my DD. She is 10 and sitting for the 11+ this September. I have been thinking about it for a while (and was waiting for the school). We are finally in a financial position to do it privately. We are based in London. Can someone please recommend a good EP that doesn't cost a fortune? I have been quoted £750+. Our budget was £500 and we are willing to travel outside London if need be. Please PM me if you aren't allowed to recommend here.

Got your PM. Thank you so much Sally-Anne. I will contact her. It seems you have a lot of experience in this area. We already applied for the exam and the deadline to submit additional needs is gone..my question is if we do get a positive diagnosis before the exam, would the local authority approve any extra consideration ? Your advice would be appreciated.

Nowhere near your neck of the woods, I'm afraid, and also horribly booked up.

Instead, you can search for a Chartered Psychologist here: https://www.bps.org.uk/lists/DIR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My DD2 had a very comprehensive dyslexia assessment (which is not quite the same as an Ed Psyc but is carried out by one) in the Maidenhead area. PM me if you want exact details, it was under £500 and very thorough (22 pages inc summary!)
They were lovely and I’d be happy to recommend them.
