Perceptual Reasoning

I have posted here as my son had an assessment for dyslexia and one of the things that came out was that he was in the top 5% for Verbal reasoning and the top 10% for perceptual reasoning. Now I understand the VR but what, in laymans terms, is perceptual reasoning please?

In a nutshell, Non-Verbal Reasoning. Solving problems visually without using words, making deductions from pictures and shapes, etc.

Perceptual reasoning measures the ability to find relationships between non verbal stimuli and as well as testing their reasoning skills. It is considered to be a useful indicator of general intelligence and problem solving skills.
