CSSE extra time?
My son has ASD and will be sitting the CSSE examination, I have started to look at the access arrangements and there is one thing I cannot work put at all, the following is from the CSSE site:
3. Access Arrangements that are not provided for
11+ candidates.
Some arrangements which schools provide for GCSE and A Level
candidates are not considered appropriate for the 11+ tests. This is due
to the shortness of each of the 11+ tests and the time dependent nature
of the tests.
Candidates with a recognised disability may be entitled to access
arrangements, but for all other candidates the following arrangements are
not made by test centres:
3.1 Allowing time for rest breaks within any one of the two tests.
Rest breaks are scheduled between the tests.
3.2 Allowing extra time for candidates with writing difficulties.
3.3 Allowing a candidate to submit his/her answers on a computer.
All applicants are assessed on what they can do in the time allocated for
each test.
Now on one hand this seems to imply they never allow extra time, ever, yet does the sentence 'candidates with a recognised disability may..etc' imply that it might be possible? In which case what would qualify? I mean they've already said that writing difficulties wouldn't (maybe they'd offer a keyboard or something in that circumstance.)

Re: CSSE extra time?
maybe they are referring to some GCSE / A level pupils who have scribes?
Re: CSSE extra time?
Certainly, visually impaired children have received extra time in the past in CSSE exams.

I’m not an expert but I do remember some previous discussions on this.
Educations plans usually give details of what adjustments will be needed for school exams. These will need to be re-adjusted for 11+ (translated to - you can get adjustments in some circumstances but they will be less generous)
They acknowledge in some cases no amount of adjustment would sufficiently level the playing field. I believe that they would expect these to be considered on appeal.
Please discuss with the school or consortium because this is just my interpretation and from memory.
Edit to add - this document by the School Adjudicator has some information on adjustments provided.
