I can't say because it might identify which school I work in ... The NfER website also said coaching did make a difference long before 2008.

You just have to take my word that it was a while ago - certainly before 2003.

The Nfer website said that:

This research went on to suggest that there is no significant gain after about five practice sessions and that there is no significant benefit from more than a few hours of coaching.

So children in Bucks are (still I think?) given 5 short practice sessions and sent home with 3 completed papers. According to Bucks, the Nfer technical term for this process is â€˜saturation familiarisationâ€™! As I said, their claim was then that the gains from extra practice and coaching are minimal.

The plot only thickens if details of the meeting you refer to would identify a school..
