I have two questions to which I think I have seen the answers before but can't remember them!

Could someone tell me where the children should be at now with their marks on the VR and NVR practice papers (eg the NFER ones) if they are sitting the exams in Bexley and Dartford in less than 4 weeks time?

Secondly, could someone help with the name of the papers which Bexley and North Kent use - is it NFER?

Thanks yours confusedly

Nfer for both areas.

Bexley - I have been led to believe that kids should be reaching a minimum of 70% on the nfers to stand a chance of passing. I was told a while back by a HT that the actual pass mark is around 78% (aggregate score) making the Bexley test slightly easier than the nfer papers.

Kent - again 70% should do it although I have heard that the pass mark could be lower. The problem here is that there is no aggregate so there is no tolerance for a weak area. I'm sure someone from Kent will be along soon to give you more info.

Thanks Tracy. Any idea what the "top 180" equates to for Bexley - have you got any friends or know anyone out of borough who did get a Bexley place and what their score was last year?

:)

Don't know anyone in top 180.
A few years ago when the 4 subjects were taken Bexley Council told me that the cut off for 180 was about 490 ish if that helps. Don't know how accurate that is.

Thanks Tracy
What does 490ish equate to .... it is out of ???? what sort of percentage are we talking 90+ as some people tend to think?

The 4 tests would have been out of 140 so:

140 x 4 = 560

490 / 560 = 87.5 %

So 90 % would seem to be about the correct figure.

Kent's actualpass marks change each year depending on the cohort, but are typically standardised scores of 115, 120, 120

thanks Tracy and yoyo123. I now have a clearer idea for Dartford what about Bexley - they just do VR and Maths so would it be the same 140 x 2???
