Stretch Bond? What's the difference from year up ones?

Post by elevenlevel »

What is the difference between say Stretch Bond 9-10 and normal 9-10 or 10-11. The Stretch ones say they are for gifted or able children but surely that just means they must be the same as those for the year (or two years?) above?
Anyone know anything about them?

Also what Bond books age would you normally need to be at by the time you took the 11+ and getting what kind of scores? I know that most actual exams might not be that similar to Bond but it should presumably give us an idea?

I have no idea what is in the Bond books myself, but I would expect a 'stretch' book to include more challenging problems, but without requiring that the child actually knows 'more' maths than another child of the same age. So you might have problems with more steps in them perhaps, but not with maths that is taught in a later year. Perhaps a teacher could provide an example, because I can't think of any!

Yes, that does make sense. But without reading the book it is hard to know if this is what bond has done.
