How much does your DC's school do to help with the 11+?

Post by Manana »

Our school runs a club after school after the May half term holiday, which considering the exam is in September, seems rather late. Other nearby state schools do 11+ prep work within the school day from Y3!

In Buckinghamshire they aren't allowed to, other than the familiarization pack in July or September (test end of September). The head teachers have to sign a statement that they haven't done anything else (I think). Of course, the local private schools can do as much as they like

depends also where indies are, many are more interested in the other indie exams not the 11 plus.

Ah, yes, here in Bucks there are quite a few private schools that only go up to 11 so people use them in the hope that they will get into a good grammar school, and this is how many of them market themselves. Of course there are also schools that go all the way through to 18 so I don't imagine they push the 11 plus so much :D

To be honest, if the exam is in September, then the work needs to be done in year 5 (year 6 is leaving it a bit late!!!)
