Trying to keep calm when daft mistakes are made.

We have had discussions about checking work and not being sloppy, but sometimes I can predict what
questions she will get wrong just because of sloppy addition/subtraction or something equally easy.
62% on a Bond paper this morning  through silly mistakes, all involving the 4 basic operations.
I'm trying to not get overly stressed, but b****y ****, I'm at my wits end.

Hi I know how you feel and perhaps you both need a break from full papers. Last summer (and I know we had more time than now as exams are earlier) my son became stressed and was getting confused on things he had easily completed a few weeks earlier. We decided that perhaps we both needed to have a break and so instead of completing long papers we did short 10 mins IPS ones or only parts of longer papers. He felt better and his marks improved. he was just tired as the slog was going on for too long. they are only 9/10 and the pressure is so intense. Try shorter papers with lots of fun afterwards for a week or so and then go back to the longer papers. I also noticed when DS went back to school in the Sept and it became more real his focus improved and he passed in the end. Remember lots of deep breaths and get your daughter to also slow down and be aware of where she tends to make silly mistakes. Best of luck

Ditto! If I score my DS as is, he's normally between 70-80%, strip out the b&£);y ?;(@ silly mistakes and he's much higher!

I've moved him to the 10 min papers and I'm making him show his workings out.

So frustrating, he's far from being a numpty so why does he do it!

Sounds like we need to bang our DS and DDs heads together.
