Socially awkward children do not get socially better at school. They just suffer for years. If anything they become socially better with home ed but you can't make a child be who they are not.

I couldn't agree more, WFG. I've just returned from helping in DS's classroom. The socially awkward ones could definitely do with a bit of 1to1, rather than the more negative reactions or ignoring that they seem to get.
Late last night, I was re-reading the thread that Sherry_D started. The home-ed groups in your area sound fantastic; and I'm inspired by your timetable! Do the parents of the home ed children 'mix' much as well? Or is it more child-initiated at secondary age?
